Samuel Vierling

Software developer building government technology and geospatial tools. Writing about AI, GIS, and conservation tech.

About

I'm a software developer at Grandjean & Braverman, Inc., where I develop, support, and modernize tax software for Pennsylvania county governments. My role spans feature development, client relations, technology migrations, and integrating AI into our development workflows.

Based in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, I bring a unique perspective as both a developer building tax software and a former tax collector who used those same systems.

I write about the intersection of government technology, GIS, and natural resource management, exploring how government technology connects to broader challenges like water conservation and infrastructure modernization.

Outside of work, I play music, hike all over the country, read history, tackle DIY projects, and love traveling to explore new places.
